Utilitarian Must Have
A good sturdy pair of kitchen shears will do a lot for you in the kitchen. I've blown through several over the years, usually gravitating towards the flashy, Japanese steel version...I gave the Misen kitchen shears a shot and am blown away by the quality and performance. They're not flashy, but they're exceptionally sharp and perform like a much more expensive set of shears.

Old guy scissors
If you have any hand issues, arthritis, stiffness, neuropathy, like I have these are great. Big handle, good sharpness, comfort. And easier than a knife foe some things.
